Tips on Buying a Used Mercedes Benz Atlanta Vehicle

It’s time to trade up from your sporty SLK350 for a used Mercedes Benz Atlanta SUV model.  Your family is about to expand and the 2-seater convertible isn’t going to work with a baby soon arriving so you’ve decided that a 2006 SUV M-class Mercedes will be the ideal used car as it’s not too old but it’s going to cost substantially less than a new one, plus it’s going to service your transportation needs for a number of years.

Buying a used Mercedes Benz Atlanta vehicle however means that you need to be a little wary about the car and approach the sale with caution rather than purchasing what appears to be a great deal.  Often with used cars, great deals are often associated with a great deal of problems!

The first thing you want to look for is how much you should expect to pay for the M-class SUV 2006 model.  Have some idea of what its worth in tip-top condition before you start your search for one and you’ll know if the dealership or private owner is charging an excessive amount for it.  You can also assume that if it’s being offered at a much lower price, and there’s no apparent reason for this such as a quick sale because the current owner is moving abroad or needs money urgently to pay emergency medical expenses, then it’s more than likely you’re going to have trouble with the car!

Next you want to see a full history on the car.  Who owned it and what service/damages it has sustained in its lifetime?  Without a full service history you won’t know if the car has been involved in any impact accidents, or of any recurring problems that owners have had with the car.

Before you agree to buy the car you should have an independent mechanic check it over – including putting it up on ramps so that they can check out the underneath.  The dealership may not be being dishonest by claiming there are no faults; they just may not have been as thorough in looking for them as a mechanic would be.

Consider purchasing the car from a rental company if you can find one selling the Atlanta used Mercedes Benz SUV that you’re looking for.  Rental companies usually only keep their cars a couple of years before selling them, and whilst they have them they are kept in a good condition.  They should also have a full service history so you’re sure of what has happened to the car from purchased as new, until the time it’s offered for sale to you.

Negotiate the price!  If the mechanic says the car is fine, it’s within the book price range, you still don’t want to pay the full asking price if you can possibly avoid it.  Offer a lower amount – the dealership or even private person will probably accept your offer, and if they don’t, well at least you tried!

Buying that used Mercedes Benz Atlanta SUV that you now need should be relatively easy, but just keep in mind that you need to know exactly what experiences the car has had before buying it.  If there’s no history, make that car history and find another!
